I always get cravings for Asian cuisine – Chinese, Japanese, Thai – you name it, I want it. But let’s be real – I am not a chef! I do not know how to cook authentic Asian cuisine, nor do I always want to spend the money on takeout! I have tried MANY pre-made stir fry sauces from the grocery store and really haven’t had much luck to find something that I love. In this new year – YAY 2018 – I am determined to experiment outside my comfort zone. So here goes nothing, let’s make Asian Turkey Lettuce Wraps!
Okay okay, so I am taking baby steps! Bear with me here people. Can’t dive right in to full out Asian cuisine. But, I LOVED how my Spaghetti Squash Pad Thai turned out – so I have faith, we can do this!

Every time I cook ground turkey I am amazed by how flavorful and delicious it. Does anyone else feel like ground turkey gets a bad rep? Maybe it’s just me but I feel, since it is the “healthier” alternative, it’s almost like – aw man, no beef?
But who needs beef when you’ve got turkey! Just kidding, beef is also great. I am just being silly.

Try them for yourself! Not healthy enough for ya? Add some more veggies to change things up. Got a picky eater who doesn’t like vegetables? (Cough… my husband… cough!) throw the turkey over some freshly steamed rice or Asian noodles.
A delectable meal that all can enjoy!
Juicy turkey glazed with sweet hoisin and soy all wrapped with fresh crispy, lettuce. These Turkey Lettuce Wraps are almost as good as take out!
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup sweet onion chopped
- 1 red pepper chopped
- 1/4 cup water chestnuts
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp chili paste
- 2 tbsp fresh ginger grated
- 3 green onions sliced
- 1 cup cooked rice (brown or white) optional
- salt and pepper to taste
In a large saute pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add garlic - stir and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add onions, peppers, and water chestnuts - stir and cook for an additional 5-6 minutes.
Add ground turkey to saute pan - stir and cook until turkey has browned.
In a small mixing bowl, combine hoisin, soy sauce, chili paste and ginger. Pour sauce over turkey/onion/pepper mixture - lower heat and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Remove from heat, add green onions and stir gently. Spoon several tablespoons of turkey mixture over lettuce leaf and serve as-is or with rice!
Storage: Refrigerate turkey mixture separate from lettuce or rice in an airtight container. Re-heat and re-assemble as desired.
