Mindfulness and Spirituality – In Israel!
Hey everyone! I am so excited to share that this coming weekend I will going to ISRAEL!! I cannot believe the trip is finally here. When I was 16, I went on a youth trip to Israel which was incredible. I had a wonderful experience and made some amazing friends – some of which, I am still close with today! One of those friends, my dearest Beccah, will be coming to Israel with me again this time around! It was her idea, I can’t take credit. But she found a trip that is based on Mindfulness and Spirituality – she loves yoga, I love yoga, how perfect could this be?? So we signed up right away! That was about 6 months ago – and now, surprise! The time has arrived!
I feel pretty unprepared. I haven’t packed. I don’t know what to expect. But here goes nothing!
The trip is led by Birthright – a not-for-profit educational organization that sponsors free trips to Israel for young adults of Jewish heritage, aged 18-26. Which is pretty amazing – Beccah and I simply had to find transportation to New York city where we will be flying out of JFK – and then we are off! All expenses paid. I feel very fortunate to be able to participate in such an incredible experience and cannot wait to begin our adventure.
Some of the things that I am most excited about:
- Going to the Golan Heights Winery
- Learning about Kabbalah
- Visiting Tel Aviv
- Visiting Jerusalem
- Going to Machane Yehuda – a bustling open air market in the heart of Jerusalem
- Riding camels!
- Enjoying a Hafla dinner feast – we will be sleeping in tents in the desert!
- Climbing Masada – A famous desert plateau
- Swimming in the dead sea
- And of course doing yoga/eating all the while!
Obviously, I do not have any new pictures to share yet – but hopefully I will have PLENTY to share throughout and after the trip is over! Here is one of my favorite sunset photos from my last trip almost 10 years ago! I am such a sucker for sunsets…
If you have been to Israel, do you have any recommendations? The trip is mostly planned for us but I would love to hear any suggestions you might have for our free time!
