Welcome to NOMaste Kitchen! Thank you so much for stopping by! My name is Haley – I am a food loving, yoga teaching human, just trying to get by in this world full of deliciousness. I love to cook, I love to bake, and I love to flow. But most importantly, I love to share my passions with others. Hence, the creation of NOMaste Kitchen – a place to discuss food, yoga, cooking, baking, healthy eating, not so healthy eating, and anything else that comes to mind!
I find it incredibly hard to balance health and flavor. I love going out to eat – trying new restaurants, new dishes, new tastes, it seriously brings me joy. But going out to eat can get expensive and unhealthy! I believe that learning to cook and to eat in moderation will forever be a learning process for me! But, that’s not going to stop me from trying to enjoy every minute of the process! I love to explore different recipes – finding out what works for me and what doesn’t. Experimenting with flavors and taste. I would love for you to join me in this journey of eating, flowing, and loving life!
I grew up on the North Shore of Massachusetts and currently live in Columbus Ohio with my husband Jake! I graduated from Washington University in St. Louis with a degree in Systems Engineering and minor in Operations and Supply Chain Management. Now you might be wondering – engineering? Cooking? Baking? Yoga? What? Yup – sometimes I wonder the same thing. Jake and I have TWO adorable golden retrievers, a.k.a. my fur-children, named Gatsby and Daisy. I love them more than is probably considered healthy. Here they are snuggling in the kitchen while I cook.
Favorite food? Probably sushi. Or maybe Mexican. Cheese? Avocado? Who am I kidding – I think it might be bread. I could eat bread for days… Carbs may not like me but I sure do love them. Did I mention I love food? I love watching TV series that have already run so that I can binge watch seasons at a time. I love to teach and do yoga, hot and regular.
I am a self-taught, mom-taught cooker/baker who loves to feed anyone she can. Despite the fact that I do not have kids (nevermind grandkids) yet, I think my personality very much resembles that of a good Jewish grandmother in this way!
I have always wanted to be a healthy eater – the key word being “wanted.” It is SO HARD! I have tried many different trends, programs, and suggestions. But let’s be real, I live to eat! Being a true “healthy eater” is challenging. Through the creation of this blog, I hope to explore healthy eating; learning new recipes, exploring trends, and seeing what works for me! I do believe that living a healthy life is all about moderation – so don’t get me wrong, I will probably share some VERY unhealthy recipes. But I truly hope that we can all experience this journey together – learning about food and life along the way.
