Forgive me, these photos are NOT my best – but this recipe IS! This Blackened Chicken Seasoning is my new FAVORITE!
Jake and I have a favorite Blackened Chicken Sandwich that we get at the Athletic Club of Columbus where we belong. IT IS AMAZING!
For the longest time I was planning to try and make my own blackened chicken seasoning… but then I got lazy. So I went to the store and bought some.
The seasoning was actually delightful – BUT it was like $6 for a single bottle… and I used it up in about 3 weeks. Whoops.
So I decided it was time to do some research. I tried out combinations of all the seasonings that I already had, starting with a base of paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
From there, I dd a sniff test. Comparing my seasoning to the one I purchased. I tried out a few combinations of other ingredients – adding thyme and oregano. At one point, I also tried adding in dill, chili powder, and cumin – those didn’t work out so well.
All in all, I finally came up with the following recipe that I love! it is wonderful
The seasoning is wonderful on chicken, turkey, and even veggies! I haven’t tried it on beef or steak yet but I don’t doubt it would be delicious!
I will note though, you do have to use a LOT of seasoning! To get the full flavor, you must really coat your meat with this seasoning.
I love it most on chicken – whether you are enjoying a blackened chicken sandwich or salad, this seasoning is FAB for getting your chicken to the next level.
On the grill, the stove, in the oven, I promise its all delicious! Try it for yourself!
